Down a Rabbit Hole

Head to Toe: Dress, F21; Headband (tied on top), Sally's; Thigh-highs, Halloween store; Heels, Mom's.

I got this dress several springs ago and have always called it my "Alice in Wonderland" dress. Keeping up with my theme this Halloween, I decided to style it as Alice. Plus, I got to wear my Red Queen costume again another night. So if you're in a pinch tonight, just throw on a blue dress and some white tights!

And if you're really feeling festive, here are the Halloween cupcakes I made over the weekend. I drew inspiration from the net, mostly betterhomesandgardens.com.

Yum!

Cupcake mix is Pillsbury. I also used vanilla Pillsbury frosting and dyed it with food dye. With cake decorator tips, small candies, and colored sugar, you can easily recreate any of my spooky designs. For mummies, monsters, and eyeballs, see Better Homes and Gardens.
Happy Halloween!

Knit and Tidy

Head to Toe: Thermal (underneath), Old Navy; Sweater, Gap (gift); Leggings, American Eagle (gift); Leg warmers, unknown (I've had them forever!); Boots, Target; Scarf, Vendor.

Since I am still boycotting coats, piling on cozy knits is my warm and stylish solution. Nothing says fall like a chunky sweater...and in this case, nothing says "end of a long week" like leggings! I want to cuddle up next to a fire and drink hot cocoa in this outfit.

Monti peeing and posing for the camera...Don't ask why I found this so hilarious...I'm too mature.

Plain and Simple

Head to Toe: Button down, sweater, and jeans, Thrifted; Boots, Target; Bag, Vendor; Watch, Target; Necklaces, Charlotte Russe; Earrings, Mom's.

Tuesday, I was having a serious outfit crisis. The "nothing to wear" anxiety has been even more difficult since I started blogging. It's hard to avoid wearing things over and over in my photos. Finally, I  opted for simple and chic with a sweater over button down, and dark skinnies. I guess, when in doubt, less is more.

Do you have any tricks for coming up with new outfits without a closet overhaul?

Falling Leaves

Head to Toe: Top, TJ Maxx; Sweater, Old Navy; Jeans, TJ Maxx; Boots, Target; Ring, Charlotte Russe; Necklace, Fashion Bug; Bag, TJ Maxx.

Monday I had a busy day of class and things for my internship, so I needed a comfy outfit that was also professional and pulled together. I think colored jeans are a great way of dressing up a casual staple. I have been searching for a pair in rust, but I found these green ones and loved them immediately. Plus, the fall colors in the top coordinate perfectly...but I am admittedly still on the hunt for an orange pair.

Off with his head!

Red Queen Costume:
      Cost: about $20
      Time: 3 hours

I was more than excited to debut my Red Queen costume Thursday night at my friends' Halloween party...best of all, now I can share my costume with you in time for Halloween!

Here's how I did it:

I found the black dress at a thrift shop for $4. I cut out the heart and Q's from felt and glued them to the dress with Fabric Tack ($5). I bought just one yard of the checkerboard fabric at Joanne's for about $5 and made finished edges by folding it in half and gluing each end together. I glued the top piece underneath the dress and used safety pins to attach the ruffle at the bottom.

The glitter headband is from the $1 section at Joanne's and I glued on the heart shapes and rhinestones with Guerrilla Glue.

The black pumps are my mom's and they already had a bow on them...so I tied some fabric to the bow and glued the heart (cut out of cards) onto the fabric, and the bow onto the heart. When I'm done, I just have to take off the fabric and the shoes are good as new!

I taped the Queen of Hearts card to my clutch for an extra touch and threw on some heart earrings I already had. Last, the tights (about $7 from the Halloween store) pulled the look together.

My beauty regime included bouncy hair, false eyelashes, and red lipstick.

Wah-lah, you can walk around all night saying, "Off with his head!" whenever someone gets on your nerves.

Monti's White Rabbit Costume: Target (88 cents on sale!)
He wasn't too pleased to be wearing it, but had to tough it out for the photos.

Wellies

Head to Toe: Sweatshirt dress (underneath), Old Navy; Jacket, Old Navy; Scarf, Gift; Leggings, American Eagle (gift); Boots, Hunter (Ebay).

I was actually semi-excited for rain Wednesday because my Hunter rain boots arrived just in time. I'm in love with them! They are actually super comfortable and I love how the classic green will go with anything. They almost have me hoping for rain...almost.

Mr. Owl

Head to Toe: T-shirt, Thrifted; Blazer, F21; Necklace, Fashion Bug; Jeggings, Old Navy; Boots, Target.

I love how a simple blazer can add some polish and style to a simple outfit. So that's what I turned to Tuesday--I needed something office appropriate but was in a comfy mood. And I'm obsessed with this owl necklace; isn't he cute?

Also, my outfit photos didn't turn out well Monday, but I snapped some shots of my accessories.

Feather earrings, Flea market; Scarf, American Eagle (gift)

Flower ring, Charlotte Russe; Gold ring, Flea market; Nails (in rough shape haha), Sally Hanson Pat on the Black

You Picked Me

Head to Toe: Hat, Gap Outlet; Thermal (underneath), Old Navy; Flannel, Thrifted; Vest, Gap (gift); Jeans, Delia's; Boots, Old Navy; Necklace, Fashion Bug.

Saturday Mackenzie and I went apple picking and to a nearby flea market, so I picked out a very fall look. We had the perfect, crisp Autumn day for it, and we had a blast picking (and, uhm, sampling) ginormous apples.

Black and white, day and night

Day

Head to Toe: Tunic, F21; Leggings, Target; Earrings, H&M; Necklace, SO GOOD Jewelery Soho; Bag, TJ Maxx; Boots, Target.

Friday I wore classic black and white for a morning of studying. This is one of my super comfy but still put together outfits. Really, why wear sweatpants when black leggings can look so chic?

Night

Head to Toe: Tank (under), Marshalls; Tank (top), H&M; Sweater, Gap (gift); Earrings, Fashion Bug; Jeggings, Old Navy; Boots, Target; Bag, Vendor.

Apologies for the dark photos; my camera has a tough time at night. This H&M top was a perfect pick for a night out with the girls. The associate at the store said they were "selling like hotcakes." I had to wear heels with the top, so I was glad to find these boots at Target to add to my collection. Fun!
