Alma Mater

Head to Toe: Sweater, Abercrombie (hand-me-down); Jeans, Delia's; Scarf, Mom's; Boots, Target; Warmers, DIY.

I'm showing some school spirit in this outfit for my high school's Thanksgiving game. It was a warm, sunny day, and I love the tradition of seeing the team and lots of familiar faces. After that, it was home to do lots of cooking! Break, of course went too quickly, and now I'm into the crazy, busy end of the semester. I'm hoping to scrounge up enough motivation to power through the end.

Some snapshots from my Thanksgiving break: From top, clockwise:
Fishtail braid, sparkles for the holidays, cardis please, and sparkly booties.

A Little Longer

Head to Toe: Top, hand me down; Skirt, F21; Tights, Target; Booties, Target; Ring, flea market; Jacket (in lower photos), American Eagle (gift).

Notice anything different about this picture? Yup, my hair grew magically. I'm wearing some extensions for a little extra length and I've been loving them. There's so many fun things I can do with them in, like this fishtail, and I take them out at night. If you've been thinking about investing in extensions, I recommend it. These are from Sally's.

I'm doing a little fall color blocking in this outfit, with the rust tights and blue skirt. November is almost over, so I guess it's time to incorporate some winter pastels. Time flies!

Sorry for the delay in (or lack of) posts lately. Hope you all had a restful and happy Thanksgiving!

All Business

Head to Toe: Blouse, Banana Republic via Consignment shop; Blazer, Marshall's; Tights, Mom's; Skirt, Mom's; Heels, Target.

Thursday I needed an outfit that was a bit more formal and professional. I was very tempted to go shopping for a new outfit, but I settled for the next best thing--raiding my mom's closet. She is stocked with those classic pieces like pencil skirts and blazers that never go out of style. I actually gave her this blazer because I never had an occasion to wear it. It's hard to tell in the photo, but it's a brocade pattern, and the tights are textured as well. I love mixing textures and fabrics in a mono-chromatic outfit, and I needed one splash of color with the orange blouse.
As for the blazer, I guess we'll have to share.

Zipped Up

Head to Toe: Long Sleeve T, Hand me down; Scarf, Gift; Skirt, Marshall's; Leggings, American Eagle (gift); Boots, Target.

One thing I love about tights and leggings is that they have the ability to up the conservatism a little bit. I normally wouldn't wear this skirt to work, but with leggings it's fun without showing too much. And who doesn't love the slimming affect of black tights?

Fair Isle

Head to Toe: Long sleeve T, Old Navy; Sweater, Old Navy; Jeans, Thrifted; Socks, Gap (gift); Uggs, gift.

I love, love, love the Fair Isle trend. This sweater is a small dose of it, but I think you'll be seeing me in a lot more as I expand my winter. Until then, I'm addicted to layering my leg wear and piling on anything cozy.

Warmers Round Two

Head to Toe: Thermal, Forever 21 (Hand me down); Skirt, Thrifted, Scarf, gift; Warmers, unknown, Boots, Target.

There was a bit of a heat wave this week and it was warm enough to go with bare legs. So it was leg warmers round two!...I know what I'm putting on my Christmas list...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Layered

Head to Toe: Flannel, Thrifted; Sweater, American Eagle (gift); Jeans, Thrifted; Warmers, unknown; Boots, Target; Necklace, Fashion Bug; Ring, Flea Market.

Ah, the joy of Fall layers. I've been so obsessed with these leg warmers, and I definitely need to stock up on more, along with chunky knee socks. I actually had a few pairs of leg warmers several years ago that I gave away because I couldn't find a way to wear them. Now, I love knits peeking out of boots. I've also spotted some looks on pinterest that cite making some out of the sleeves of an old sweater. Good idea!

Ladylike

Head to Toe: Sweater, Urban Behavior; Tights, Marshall's; Skirt, Marshall's; Boots, Target.

I wasn't sure if this lace skirt was too dressy for work, but I dressed it down with tights and boots. I love it; lace has a way of putting me in a good mood. Happy Friday tomorrow!

New hair! Back to dark, thanks to Dee C. :)

Cuddle Up

Head to Toe: Sweater, Mom's; Skirt, F21; Tights, Mom's; Oxfords, F21; Earrings, Gift.

I was nervous about attempting to tuck this chunky sweater into a stretchy pencil skirt, but the mix of textures turned out just right. I've been obsessed with my tights lately, but I'd love to wear this skirt on a warmer day with bare legs and high boots. 'Til then, I'm cuddling up with layers.

Happy weekend!

There is more to life than Uggs and a Northface

Head to Toe: T-shirt, Thrifted; Sweater, American Eagle (gift); Jeans, TJ Maxx; Necklace, Fashion Bug; Oxfords, F21; Bag, Gift.

No, I am not leaving for vacation and packing a week's worth of clothes. The enormity of my bag is simply due to the ridiculous load of books I needed to schlep to class Wednesday. Speaking of school, let me explain the meaning of today's blog title. It's that time of year when all one can see far and wide on a college campus is a sea of Uggs and Northfaces. Don't get me wrong, I love my Uggs, and I do own a Northface...but it feels like everyone is wearing a uniform every day. Love those cozy boots? Try furry, Eskimo boots or flat riding boots. And try swapping that fleece jacket a few days a week for a pea coat or fur-lined hoody. A little change never hurt anybody!
