Hah-hah! If you were remotely alive in the 2000's and read my headline, you now have Blue impossibly stuck in your head for the rest of the day. You're welcome!
Anywho, I'm surprised at how much I was loving this simple jeans plus tee combo today. With such a blank canvas, I was free to play with accessories. Happy hump day!

A little sillyness snapping my outfit pics in our apple tree yesterday. The locale is fitting for my part hippie part barbie floral dress and headband. And whose Monday couldn't use a little sillyness?

I am officially a jinx. The forecast Thursday was thundershowers and rain all day, demonstrated by the wet conditions that were occurring as I was getting ready...and decided to wear rain boots...in July. Well, as you can see by the sunny skies behind me, it turned out to be a gorgeous, steamy day in which my feet were left to swelter. Let's just say it was a pretty uncomfortable walk to my train. Next time, I'm throwing on some rubber flip flops and calling it a day.

Like my androgynous bottoms? These shorts that almost look like a skirt bring me back to the elementary school days of skorts...I loved the ability to wear a skirt, and still do cartwheels without being indecent. In feminine florals, my grown-up versions are perfect for work.

Head to Toe: Top, Gap; Blazer, Forever 21; Jeans, Thrifted; Shoes, Marshall's; Shades, Vendor; Watch, Guess (Gift).
Looks like I am dressed for cooler weather, but long sleeves and pants are much comfier in frigid A/C. White jeans and bright accessories keep it almost-August-appropriate, and a navy blazer is fit for the yacht club (in my dreams). Though the forecast is rain today, I'm glad I've been soaking some of the sun by taking lunches outside with some of my co-workers...A little dose of happiness!

Can’t believe two days have flown by since snapping these photos on a pretty Friday evening. It’s a dark and gloomy Monday, but nothing a little extra caffeine can’t fix! Anyway, I played up the rich purple in this flouncy skirt with an Indian-style top for a meeting last week…Of course,
stolen borrowed from my mom like so many additions to my closet. One of the
perks of living at home!

Head to Toe: Tank, Delia's; Jeans, Strawberry New York; Sandals, Marshall's; Hat, American Eagle; Necklace, Delia's.
I have not been able to get off my color kick this summer--nor do I want to! I'm loving the island vibe with punchy patterns and colors, topped with my new favorite hat.
Today I had an great time soaking up some rays (a little too many though, ouch!) at Misquamicut beach, Rhode Island. In the June issue of Self magazine, there was a quote I cut out and taped on my mirror. It reads, "You've waited all year for days like these: long, sweet and bright. Don't waste a minute. Step away from the roar of everyday life, and tune in to the rhythm of the waves. Let the sun, water and breeze kiss your cheeks and style your hair. Summer days still have as many hours as when you were a kid. Free yourself and remember how to fill them." My new (a bit lengthy) motto for summer.

I was feeling crafty this week so I decided to DIY some ombre shorts, and I am delighted with the outcome. First I made an old pair of capris into cut-offs (I always leave a little extra length so I can cuff them). Then I dipped the lower half into a bowl of bleach, letting it seep up towards the top. I soaked for about 10 minutes, rinsed, and threw in the wash. That easy!

relaxing at the docks near my house, wearing an H&M skirt with hand-me-down blouse in NYC,
and my finished creation.

Today I had a lovely lunch break excursion with some of my co-workers to the Westport Farmer's Market. It was nice to walk around and get some sunshine while sipping on fresh lemonade. I bought some fresh bread and tomatoes, so for dinner I put a few tomato slices on the bread; sprinkled with mozzarella, EVOO, and basil; baked for a few, and wah-lah! Fresh and delicious.
Clockwise from top left: Yoga mats to find some zen at the market, snapping pics and sipping lemonade,
a yummy oven-baked pizza for lunch with fresh mozz and basil, wearing this outfit.
I went with a comfy maxi, but here's some more market looks for a during-work run or a weekend day trip. My necessities: comfy shoes and a big tote.
Lunch Break Delight

This outfit makes me feel like a creamsicle, but I'm digging the summery colors. I'm going strong on my "enjoy the week" goal, making plans with friends and taking classes at the gym. I think the reality check came when I realized July is halfway over. I can't spend only two days a week enjoying my summer! How do you let loose Monday through Thursday?

Head to Toe: Top, Thrifted; Skirt, Forever 21; Shoes, Marshall's; Watch, Guess (Gift).
In an effort to start Monday on the right (and well-adorned) foot, I styled this seafoam and pink look for work. The skirt is light and airy for the heat, but long enough to keep me from getting a chill in the a/c. Plus I think my newest obsession is tying things up, while a high-waist skirt keeps it office-appropriate.
My second positive Monday goal is to have more fun during the week. No more putting all my eggs in Saturday and Sunday! Tonight, I went bowling, and even did halfway decently. 105 the first round and 97 the second...Excuse me while I ice my arm.
