I'm a little late posting my outfit from earlier this week, but I love to start Monday's with a good ensamble (it helps me get off on the right foot). This Monday, I took it a step further and wore pretty spring pastels, even though temps have been in the 20s. Optimism, I guess, but I'm trying not to get bogged down by this seemingly-endless winter. And it feels good to look back on my Monday-motivation outfit and know tomorrow is Friday. I feel accomplished but ready for a relaxing weekend. My calendar is completely clear. What are you up to?

I managed to take these photos during the last minutes of daylight after a busy Tuesday. I was working a photo shoot for the magazine, so I needed to bundle up and wear comfy shoes. Sometimes, you scour Pinterest for hours trying to find the perfect outfit. Sometimes, you get dressed on your own and inadvertently end up looking exactly like the female Marty McFly. Happy Hump Day!

Finally! Warmer weather warranted flats on Friday, and temps continued to rise throughout the weekend, feeling downright springlike. I got Monti out for some long walks and have been leaving my puffy coats in the closet. The heatwave was a bit of a tease, as snow is on its way again these next few days, but I feel hopeful that spring is around the bend. I've got a busy week coming up, so it's time to settle in with my magazines and pup and call it a night. Have a happy Monday, fashionistas.

Please excuse my lack of feet in these photos. It was a little hard to capture on a foot-deep snowy background. Fortunately, rain the past few days and a warm weekend forecast is helping to diminish the buildup. Now, the sun is shining and my pup is calling for a good long walk. Happy weekend!

Another day, another snow storm. The upside is that hunter green is the it color for spring - Lucky magazine touted the hue as "the new navy." With my trusty wellies, I can be on-trend for the upcoming season before it actually feels like spring. I paired them with boyish separates for optimal trekking-through-the-snow to work comfort. The other upside? Temps are shooting to almost 50 tomorrow, so this place might start looking less like the Alaskan tundra (no offense to my Alaska-dwelling fam).

I officially have interior fever. I recently started a new job as an editor at the interior design magazine where I got my start. I'm constantly surrounded by images of beautiful spaces and in conversation with inspiring, artful decorators. On top of that, I've finally begun the process of looking for a place of my own. I have a sometimes good but mostly challenging trait that when I decide to do something, I like to have it done right away. In this case, that's simply not possible or practical. Instead, I've resorted to doing a little daydreaming between Craigslist housing surfing (which I've had WAY too much time to do this long weekend).
I took to Pinterest and browsed the Home Decor section (see my favorite spaces, below). I also found this super easy Sharpie Mug DIY. All you need are white mugs (I had some on hand for a previously-abandoned project, that I got originally for $1 each at the Christmas Tree Shop) and Sharpies. I used black, pink and a metallic gold.
1. Remove any labels and wash mugs clean (if you use Goo Gone or something to remove label residue, wash completely or the marker won't stick).
2. Write or draw to your hearts content (if you're a better artist than me, there are a lot of cool tribal and chevron pattern ideas on Pinterest). If you mess up, wipe right away with a wet paper towel. It may take a little elbow grease, but it should come off if you act fast.
3. When you're satisfied with your design, bake your mugs on a cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350-degrees. Let cool, and enjoy!Pinterest page for more!

Happy hearts day! My Valentine and I celebrated our seventh one at Mohegan Sun, because what says "I love you" better than cash, lights and (not-so-) free drinks? I even won $50, because I'm such a high roller. After a few rounds of roulette, Mackenzie and I went into one of the casino's many bars for a margarita and some chips and salsa. We sat next to two ladies about my age, who I could hear loudly complaining about how much they hated Valentine's Day. As we clinked our drinks, cheers-ing to another successful V-Day, I heard the girl behind me mockingly cooing shrill I love youuuuuuuu's. I have to admit it kind of bothered me. Relationships take patience, compromise and work. What's so bad about one day of the year to celebrate that? Though I've been in a relationship for a long time, I'm glad I've never become that cynical. I mean, why go out to dump on other people's happiness? In the end, the two girls flirted their way to a reduced check from the manager, so maybe my whole view on life is warped.

Oh, winter. You've hit us with yet another snow storm, but I've got to thank you for the work-from-home day today. It allowed me the opportunity to stay nice and cozy while getting over this new cold, which I can also thank to you no doubt. Okay, enough moaning. Anyone have fun plans for hearts day tomorrow? Happy Valentine's Day!

Thank you to one of my all-time favorite movies, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, for the title inspiration. I thought it was appropriately fitting for both my blingy collar and the frigid temps. Sorry to complain, but I'm getting to be about over this winter thing. Can't spring just come already? Damn you and your shadow Punxsutawney Phil!
