Good Jeans

Head to Toe: Blouse, Marshall's // Jeans, Forever 21 // Pumps, Payless

My apologies for the squinty eyes in these photos. You can't exactly tell, but it was misting pretty hard out (not snow, so I'm not complaining). Ever since a friend of mine pointed it out, denim-on-denim has always reminded me of this photo of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2000 in head-to-two bluejeans. But, I was inspired by my blogger crush Brooklyn Blonde and decided to make the leap. So, what do you think—chambray success or circa-2007-Briney disaster?

Casual Friday

Head to Toe: Sweater, Loft // Jacket, Continuations Consignments // Jeans, Hollister // Sneakers, Converse // Cap, Polo Ralph Lauren // Bag, Big Buddah

Happy weekend, readers! I am off from work today and sporting this super-casual number for errands and a walk with Monti. After a week of wearing heels, Converse are like a present for my feet. Though spring is slow-coming, it's the little things that make me feel like it's here—be it double-cuffed jeans, gas-station flowers or the teeny tiny crocuses starting to bud up through the soil. Next week will bring a new month, Easter, and freedom from no-shop March! Swoon.

Sunny Side Up

Head to Toe: Top, Loft // Jacket, Alice & Olivia (thrifted) // Skinnies, Hollister // Booties, Target

Yesterday was mildly warm enough to let the smallest sliver of toe peek out so I was pumped to rock these transitional booties. I am off of work for a long weekend and am trying to focus my energy on letting go and relaxing (seems odd that this requires work, I know). When I have extra downtime, I do enjoy cooking over takeout, and lucky for me I now have two friends with food blogs. I've already introduced you to Alexis' blog Cheese & Weim, but let me share Whiskey & Aprons with you, a new blog written by my dear friend, Meg. She's currently taking on the 21 Day Fix, so all of her recipes are not only delicious, but health conscious. Go check those ladies out! Happy Friday, fashionistas.

Transition Time

Head to Toe: Blouse, Marshall's // Sweater, Continuations Consignments // Jacket, Wilson // Skinnies, J. Crew // Neclkace, Forever 21 // Bag, Big Buddah

I'm herby declaring the dark days of winter over...at least in my wardrobe. I decided to brighten things up for Tuesday by piling on layers that appear light but are cold-weather appropriate. The suede jacket is a hand-me-down score from my bestie, Liz. I also got a beaded couture skirt gifted secondhand from a coworker last week, and both pieces have helped ease the pain of no-shop March (which is in it's last week, yippee!). That, combined with my tax refund, have my bank account feeling a littler healthier, so my goal is to keep cutting back even when the month rolls over—but don't quote me.

Pre-Spring Staples

Head to Toe: Sweater, Zara // Jeans, Continuations Consignments // Booties, Target // Neclace, Francesca's

Okay, like I said, sweater + skinnie jeans is about all that I can muster these days. This seemed like the only go-to for an industry trade show yesterday which requires comfort above anything. I'm pretty pumped it's already the weekend but not as pumped for the snow on its way this afternoon. And, it's officially the first day of spring! Happy Friday, fashionistas.

Just Plummy

Head to Toe: Blouse and boots, Zara // Blazer and skinnies, Marshall's // Scarf, American Eagle

Hooray for Friday, fashionistas. It was a bit windy today so I am still layering, but check out what I am standing on...Yes, that's pavement! I needed an outfit that wasn't overly dressy for Friday but formal enough for a meeting and fun for post-work happy hour. I'm open to criticism, but I think this fits the bill. It was a chockful week for me, so nothing sounds better than melted snow, drinks with friends and of course, the weekend. Cheers!

Shades of Gray

Head to Toe: Sweater, Zara // Jeans, J Brand // Booties, Target

Apologies for the terrible movie reference in the title, but I haven't had my coffee yet today, and the creativity bank is a little low. Plus it seemed fitting enough since I'm looking particularly moody in this black-and-gray number. I'm just not ready to dive into the spring pastels yet. I've been able to ditch some of the layers-on-layers, but skinnies + sweater + booties has been about the formula these days. What's your go-to transitional outfit?

March On

Head to Toe: Hat, Target // Blouse, Continuations Consignments // Jeans, Hollister // Clogs, Ugg

Though this scene may look snowy to you, it's actually a vast improvement on the wintry wonderland I've been living in. And despite the wind, it was super warm when I snapped these pics—almost 60. This blouse is a repeat from a few posts ago, since I had to pull a last-minute switch this morning when my oil-based face wash got on the striped button-down I was wearing. I needed a quick replacement that was long and billowy to balance out my white skinnies (because screw it, I'm not waiting until Memorial Day), and this baby did the trick. Not bad for a pre-coffee Wednesday morning.

Think Pink

Head to Toe: Blazer, Zara // Skinnies, Marshall's // Scarf, American Eagle // Boots, Zara

Full disclosure: This blog post was written during commercial breaks of The Bachelor. But, in all fairness, it's the season finale. You know you are my one true love, dear readers.

This sunroom was one of the selling points of my apartment, but since I moved in in October, I haven't gotten much of a chance to really use it. Today, however, was downright springlike. After daylight savings on Monday,  it felt amazing to leave work, go grocery shopping and still come home to sunlight. And the end of the day clocked in at over 50 degrees—practically flip flop weather in comparison to how it's been. Since there's still snow covering my favorite photo spots (fingers cross it will all melt away this week), I opted to snap outfit shots in my underutilized sunroom, full of—you guessed it—light!

On another note, I chopped my locks again. I chatted with my stylist about a cut that wouldn't need constant blow drying and straightening, and I think she nailed it. A little surf spray and some finishing hairspray was all it took this morning—no heat! The result is a little less polished than my normal look, but I'm totally digging it.

Relaxed Chic

Head to Toe: Top and boots, Zara // Skinnies, Marshall's // (below) Beanie, American Apparel // Coat, thrifted

For a laid back Friday last week, heeled boots and a slouchy sweater struck the right cord between casual and pulled together. It was a brief hiatus between snowstorms, so I rocked my new kicks (which I promise to display in better lighting one of these days) without fear of ruining them in salt and sludge. I can't say the same for this week, which is getting hit with winter storms nonstop. I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, and I'm hoping it will be the pick-me-up I need to feel cute despite the weather, and my restricted choice of clothing and footwear. Monti, who decided to make a cameo below, is also desperately in need of a grooming, but he is going to have to wait for the snow to melt. Plus the fluffier he gets, the more Shih Tzu blankets I can knit.
