Clarks // Jeans, L Train Vintage
These mom jean cut-offs are the result of my second spring denim DIY. I'm excited for the bottoms to become more frayed after a few washes, but I'm definitely pleased with the results. The length is a great complement to my new Clarks sandals, which might possibly be the comfiest heels I've ever owned. And comfort is a necessity during my current health-kick...A friend took me to my first barre class yesterday, and the soreness today is on another level. But I'll look like a ballerina soon, amiright?

Happy Monday, fashionistas! I hope you enjoyed the spring weekend. It always goes by too fast, but a warm, sunny start to the week makes it a little bit easier to get back into the grind. (I even enjoyed my morning coffee on my rooftop.) If you caught my trend round-up post, you know I'm crushing on the cold shoulder. So when Farfetch challenged me to style one of this season's trends, I went in search of a shoulder-bearing blouse. Luckily, I found this baby secondhand with tags at Buffalo Exchange (New Yorkers recycle trends before they're even out of style, apparently). And I'm just smitten with this blush hue—in case my layout color scheme didn't give that away. Before work, I stopped into a press preview at Drome, and the designer had to double take if I was wearing a piece from her new collection, which is flush with this rose shade. Outfit win!

After a week of feeling lousy, I had to start this one with a positive outfit. I was excited to wear my revamped white skinnies (check out how I DIY'ed them here) and kept the rest neutral save for my gold oxfords. Now, I'm easing back into the rest of my life things—cooking, yoga, general hygiene—put on hold by my plague-like cold. I even made this blackberry ricotta pizza last night that was so simple yet seriously the bomb. Happy Taco Tuesday, fashionistas!
Had to include this outtake of Monti sprinting through my shot. Places to go, Mom!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Sean and I visited Connecticut to spend time with my parents and celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a ton of fun, but it's a sleepy start to the week. I did have some time to do two quick denim DIY's Sunday evening that are so easy I couldn't help but share. My mom brightened up an old pair of white jeans for me, and I wanted to make them even more on-trend by adding the popular barely-there knee slit. I also wanted to update a pair of vintage jeans that weren't quite hitting at the right length to a more stylish angle cut. I'll walk you through both of the projects—which took about 15 minutes total. All you need are the pants, some pins and scissors.
Monti says, "Good job, Mom!" Next, for the cut-off jeans, try them on and cuff up to the length you want. Mine were stiff enough that I didn't need to pin them, but pin in place if necessary. I took them back off and adjusted slightly to make sure they were even. Make sure the fold is crisp (you can also iron in place). Then, just as before, cut along the crease. To start, make a micro-fold upon the crease in the opposite direction and cut a small slit, so that you are just making a cut on the line and not a huge hole. Then, same as before, cut along the crease, being careful not to get off track across the seams.
Done and done! Keep your eyes peeled here for how I style my
old new jeans.

I think I am finally starting to kick this cold. This week was a blur of tissues and tea, but thankfully Friday is here, and I'm hopeful of brighter days ahead. I wouldn't mind another day like this one last week, when I was able to enjoy the sun sans tights. Regardless, it's the weekend, so that's bright in and of itself. I'm going home to Connecticut to spend time with my parents and celebrate a friend's birthday, and I could not be more excited. Sniffles, be damned...Happy Friday, fashionistas!

Head to Toe: Sweatshirt, Zara // Button-down, thrifted // Sneakers, Keds // Hat, Target
Apologies for the dark photos, the weather has been pretty unforgiving these days. But, I can't say I mind the shadow on my face to hide my super-red nose. I've been fighting a pretty nasty cold this week, and losing. I'm pretty sure it's just my body's "WTF" reaction to the temperature mood swings. I've been busy with appointments at work and pushing through, but I think tonight I'm due for a few solid hours of tea and Sex and the City reruns. Monday, I layered a crisp white button-down under my favorite sweatshirt to make a comfortable outfit work appropriate. But for the past two days, the fact that I got up and put clothes on at all has been a feat in and of itself. Hopefully warmer—and less sniffly—days are around the bend. Happy hump day, fashionistas!

Happy Monday, fashionistas! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I spent the majority of mine doing some much-needed spring cleaning/closet organizing. And it felt oddly refreshing...So, it was only fitting that the blog got a bit of a makeover as well. I owe some major props to Joyce Chen, who designed this new layout. I've been making a push to increase content on here lately, and with my new location, it felt like the blog deserved an updated aesthetic. I'm debuting the redesign with a new look myself—dark lipstick and fresh skinnies (designer denim scored for $40 at Buffalo Exchange). Though looks aren't everything, it can't hurt to put a fresh coat of paint on things this spring. Let me know what you think!
