As most of you know, I'm a big proponent of thrift shopping. I scored these jeans over the summer at the Salvation Army in Williamsport, PA, for $4, and made them my own by cutting off the bottoms. This striped top was a find at a great thrift shop in Austin called Treasure City Thrift. The store is dedicated to the idea that thrift should actually be cheap. And, it succeeded—this top was only $3.
For me, the key to not looking like you're in a time warp is to mix old basics with contemporary pieces, like this Fashionmia jacket. It's a bit lighter than I was expecting, which was actually perfect for this week's warm spell. Overall, I was happy with the quality, and delivery time was only a week. I got the small (I'm usually an XS), because sites abroad typically run on the smaller side, but I think I could've sized down. Still, it works as a layering piece on the roomier side.
The last accessory for this look was a bright red lip. Somehow, I feel like a good lipstick always makes my face look brighter and more awake, which was necessary on this Monday morning. Sean and I got a new puppy over the weekend, and Truman (below), though adorable, is exhausting. Between that and a busy work week, it was tough to get to the blog. But we made it, fashionistas...Happy Friday!
