Dude, Do You Even Thrift?

Head to Toe: Jacket, L Train Vintage // Leggings, Marshall's // Oxfords, Latigo

Lately, I've been really stepping up my thrifting game. My urge to shop has been stronger than ever, but my need to save equally as dire. So, as usual, secondhand is my go-to. I discovered that there's an L Train Vintage (a small chain of secondhand shops in Brooklyn) dangerously close to my apartment. This jacket—which I suspect is from the early '90s—was a find for only $12. Thredup, an online consignment shop, has been another great source, and I've been selling some clothes with them to supplement my buys. And last weekend, I went to a great thrift store with my aunt in her neighborhood outside of Atlanta. Thankfully, I packed light so there was enough room in my suitcase to bring some things back. Because when you find a pair of perfectly fitting vintage velvet slacks from Saks, you just can't leave them behind. (Thanks Aunt Elaine!) But I'll admit that thrifting can be tricky, and hit or miss. Check out this post I put together a few years ago sharing tips and tricks to the world of secondhand. And happy Friday, fashionistas!

Fashion February

Head to Toe: Top, hand-me-down // Jacket, Target // Jeans, Rachel Roy via Thredup // Boots, Coolway // Necklace, vintage.

I always say that February is the shortest yet longest month of the year. The cold is always at its worst, the sparkle of New Year's has long faded, and the promise of spring seems worlds away. Though those things remain true, this month brought a lot of excitement to make up for its shortcomings. I got to attend some shows during my first fashion week (I wore this black-and-white look to Dan Liu's presentation). Valentine's Day fell on President's weekend, so Sean and I took the extra time to catch-up on Netflix and mostly cuddle-up inside, although we did get out on heart's day (probably the coldest night of the year) for dinner and music. Last weekend, I got to visit Atlanta for a work-related trade show and also got to visit with my aunt and uncle who live in the area. It felt like spring down South, particularly during an evening bike ride. This coming weekend, my parents are visiting for the first time since I moved, and I'm excited to show them my new neighborhood...Bam, that does it for February! Shortest yet longest month, done. Better yet, Punxsutawney Phil called for an early spring, and the days are officially getting longer. Bring it on, March!

Winter Glamping Giveaway

When I heard Glamping Hub (an online portal for luxury camping destinations) launched New England getaways, I started dreaming of winter glamping. Whether followed by a day on the slopes or a day of competitive Netflix binging, I get all warm and fuzzy thinking about cuddling up by a fire with a good view, good company and hot cocoa—spiked, if you prefer. I scoured the web for the best winter getaway inspiration, so if these snaps get you in the mood to take a trip, you're in luck. I'm giving away $150 to Glamping Hub to one lucky reader. They have destinations all over the world, and now, New England. You can wait to cash it in until spring or pack your snow shoes, sweaters and Bean boots and go right now...

Fashion Week Fur

Head to Toe: Dress, Simply Vera Wang via Thredup // Coat, vintage // Beanie, American Apparel // Gloves, H&M // Bag, Zara // Booties, Coolway

If fashion week has taught me anything, it's this: When in doubt, wear fur. This is really a pretty basic outfit, but paired with my fur coat, it makes a statement. It's also the warmest thing during this record-cold week. And from what I saw at the shows, it seemed like many other attendees had the same thought. In fact, the best part of fashion week for me is checking out all of the street style. Refinery 29, Racked, Vogue and Harper's Bazzar have my favorite roundups. Stay warm, fashionistas!

Windy City

Head to Toe: Blouse, thrifted // Jeans, Old Navy // Shoes, Latigo // Bag, vintage

Unsure of how to dress for the balmy February weather and my first fashion week, I opted for classic black and white plus my gold oxfords for New York Men's Day this past Monday. Yesterday was 55 and rainy, and today I trekked to work in a snow storm. I mean, really, how's a girl to plan her wardrobe? To make next week's outfit planning a little easier, I indulged in some retail therapy on Thredup. Have you checked it out? It's an online consignment shop where you can search by item and size. I had a credit from selling some ditties on there so I don't feel too guilty picking out a pair of skinnies, a sweater-dress and a cardi. Happy Friday, fashionistas!
