Ruffles, Raw Edges & Sparkly Mules

Head to Toe: Tank, Urban Outfitters // Jeans and turtleneck, thrifted // mules, Shellys London // Bag, Joules

Happy Friday, fashionistas! I have an exciting weekend of packing to look forward to...If you sensed sarcasm there, I'm actually serious. I've always enjoyed packing for a vacation or move because it lets you plan and get excited about that upcoming adventure. And, I love the opportunity to clear out extra "stuff," which as an editor I accumulate a lot of. A good closet clean can be therapeutic, no? Okay, maybe I'm crazy, but I am excited about our new digs. I will, however, really miss this rooftop. But Central Park isn't a bad consolation prize.
Psssst—there are a few days left on my Just Fashion Now giveaway! (Eligible entries must be in U.S., UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Canada, or France.)

A Repurposed Button-Down & Walk in the Park

Head to Toe: Top and button-down, thrifted // Jeans, 3x1 (via Buffalo Exchange) // Bag, Joules // Booties, Musse & Cloud // Shades, Vera Wang // Earrings, Nina

Did you hear that? I'm talking about the collective sigh of relief among New Yorkers now that spring has actually sprung. I've been spending my lunch breaks in the park to get a little sun, and Daniela joined me yesterday to take a walk and snap some pics.

Since I'm moving in (eek!) exactly 10 days, shopping is out of the question, so I've been repurposing old things as much as possible. Why not turn a basic button-down into a tube top? I just put it on without putting my arms through the sleeves, folded the collar underneath in the back, tied the sleeves at my waist and secured with a little sticky tape at the chest. Even though Sean's response was, "why," I'll definitely be redoing this in the summer without a shirt underneath. Have a lovely holiday weekend, fashionistas!

Street Art, Statement Sleeves & A Giveaway

Head To Toe: Top, JustFashionNow // Jeans, Siwy // Socks, Marcmarcs // Mules, Shellys London // Clutch, Cole Haan // Shades, Vera Wang

I can't believe I only have a few weeks left in Brooklyn...While I'm super excited to explore my new neighborhood on the Upper West Side, I'm trying to soak in as much Williamsburg as I can until then. Sunday was a extraordinarily gorgeous day, so I met a friend for an al fresco brunch at my favorite spot and ordered the usual—juevos rancheros. Then, we took a walk to this little industrial area in Bushwick with great street art (New Yorkers: it's right off of the Montrose Ave. L stop) to soak in the sun and take photos.

Thankfully, it was warm enough to wear this little JustFashionNow top without a jacket—since it's all about the sleeves. I found the website easy to browse and order from, and was happy this piece came just like the picture with easy return instructions. I had to wash before wearing since it felt a little stiff, but after a trip through the laundry and some steaming (the sleeves are tough to iron), it felt great. A few loose threads at the hem needed to be snipped, but I'm otherwise impressed with the quality for the price.

Want to try a piece from JustFashionNow for yourself? The site is offering my wonderful readers a chance to win $25 to the site. Enter with the form below to win. (Eligible entries must be in U.S., UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Canada, or France.) Good luck, fashionistas!

A Spring Outfit and the Perfect Carryall

Head to Toe: Top and vest, thrifted // Jeans, Mavi // Socks, Marcmarcs // Sneakers, Keds (similar) // Bag, Joules (similar)

If you caught my rant about uncomfortable fishnets a few weeks back, I take everything back. These Marcmarcs socks have a cloth bottom, toe and heel so they are actually comfortable to walk in! Plus since they're just ankle socks, I don't have to worry about fitting my jeans on top, and, so much cuter than no-show socks, which are always sliding off anyhow.

I'm also obsessed with this Joules tote bag, which I got for attending their press preview for work last week. It's so much more stylish than the canvas tote I usually carry around during the work week (since I always end up lugging a ton of stuff). And it literally fits everything...including your dog...whether he likes it or not. Don't worry, we kissed and made up after I put him in there!

Knock 'Em Dead: Palm Pants and White Kicks

Head to Toe: Top, Zaful // Pants, Zara (via Buffalo Exchange) // Sneakers, Puma

Earlier this week,  I styled a shoot for Footwear Plus at a retro bowling alley. The location was so cool, I couldn't help but snap some outfit photos for myself—including one with this Scotch & Soda bomber borrowed for the shoot. Who wore it better? Okay, the model, hands down, but it did match my outfit. Happy Friday, fashionistas!

Breakfast at Bloomingdale's: Ruffles + Camel

Head to Toe: Blouse, Buffalo Exchange // Jeans, Akira // Flats, M. Gemi // Coat, vintage LL Bean // Bag, Juicy Couture

Happy over-the-hump day, fashionistas! Sorry it's been a minute—the past week has been nonstop. I styled a photo shoot last night for our May issue (can't wait to share the pics), and I was excited to pull clothes from Bloomingdale's last week. I mean, what better than a morning with designer duds?

A new development has also been keeping me busy: We're moving! Details to come on where and when, but in the meantime, we're looking for new tenants in our cozy Williamsburg apartment. Comment if you know anyone looking for new digs for their hipster souls!

Chelsea Market, the High Line & Statement Sleeves

Head to Toe: Dress, Buffalo Exchange // Boots, Musse & Cloud // Sweater (bottom), H&M

It's officially spring on the calendar, but New England isn't quite there yet. One of my favorite indoor excursions in NYC is Chelsea Market. And if it isn't too frigid out, it's right next to the High Line, which offers some pretty sweet views of the city. Earlier this week, my friend Daniela and I decided to tackle both. The High Line is best to just wander and stop to check out the art installations along the way (and in warmer months, the flowers). Chelsea Market is also prime for wandering while, of course, snacking. Seafood lovers have to stop at The Lobster Place, and carb-aholics like myself will love Very Fresh Noodles. There's also a flower shop, wine store, bakery and chocolatier. And when you can't possibly eat anything else, there's a book store, Anthropologie and Artists and Fleas—a collective of handmade and vintage items. An afternoon well spent...and fed.

Stellaaaaaa! Snow Day Outfit

Head to Toe: Sweater, Banana Republic (thrifted) // Jeans, Old Navy // Boots, Sorel // Coat, Calvin Klein (thrifted) // Beanie, Teva
Dear, Stella. I really enjoyed the work from home day in my pajamas yesterday, typing next to my window with a yummy-smelling candle burning. I made eggs and bacon for breakfast, and it was great. Today, however, trekking through slushy Manhattan streets in the blistering cold (in mid-March), wasn't so great. Thank goodness for these Sorel boots, which literally saved me from a day with wet feet when I stepped into what appeared to be a few inches of slush and was actually an up-to-my-calf sink hole. I have been enjoying slowly bringing out my spring wardrobe, but thanks to you, Stella, I'm back to chunky sweaters, puffy coats and knit beanies (although I must admit, I love a good beanie). Let's call it even for now, but please tell your friends to stay away until next winter.

March Birchbox Review

March Birchbox
Happy snow day, fashionistas! NYC is getting pounded with sleet and snow, so I'm writing from my cozy apartment today. I've been a Birchbox subscriber for years, and I never thought about posting a review. Honestly, I'm no beauty blogger and am far from a makeup guru, but I'm always talking to friends and coworkers about Birchbox and thought I should share! For me, it's a gift I give myself for only $10 a month, and it keeps me from spending too much money on makeup—because I'm never sure what will arrive next month!

March's box is called "Pretty Mighty" and is supposed to focus on products that bring out your inner boss lady. The Beauty Protector Protect & Volume spray was my favorite item. I sprayed it onto dry hair before doing my daily curling routine, and it left my hair light and soft (not crunchy). And the smell is great. I also got a small sample of Clean Rain perfume which smells really light and fresh—more of a spring day scent as opposed to a Friday date night perfume.

Now, stay with me, let's get into the real beauty blogger stuff. The Benefit They're Real! Lengthening Mascara is serious stuff. Being an amateur who doesn't have an eyelash curler, I wasn't crazy about it. My lashes were super bold but very straight, and it was hard for me to apply without clumping. I'm going to hang onto this to use as a topcoat mascara on a weekend night out, but it was a little too much for everyday use for me. It also needed an extra swipe of makeup remover after cleansing to come off.

I wanted to try out the Supergoop! Defense Setting Mist SPF 50 even though I wasn't going out in the sun. It went on lightly over my makeup and didn't look greasy, so I will definitely be using it for outdoor days, but probably won't add into my everyday routine. (Although derms would probably say I should, no? See, not a beauty blogger.)

Last, eyeshadow, my favorite step. I was really happy with the Coastal Scents Smoky Palette (note, only a duo came in Birchbox, the whole palette pictured up top is $20). The colors are perfect for a spring "smoky" eye, and were lighter and more subtle than I was expecting. Lately, I've been loving ELF eyeshadow palettes (I have Made for Matte and Prism), but I'll definitely be keeping this duo in my purse for mid-day touchups.

So there you have it, my very first beauty post! Do you have any makeup subscriptions?
