Slam Dunk

Head to Toe: Sweater, J. Crew (via Buffalo Exchange) // Joggers, Blanc Noir // Booties, Musse & Cloud // Coat, vintage L.L. Bean

This Knicks cap was a birthday gift from Sean, and it's my new favorite thing. For anyone who's into the sportswear look, my advice is to at least be a light fan, because people—including random passersby—will quiz you on your love of the team...Be prepared to at least name your favorite player. (Side note: My favorite Knick is Melo, despite recent efforts to dump him.)

Yesterday was New York Men's Day, a cool collective of menswear presentations for NYFW Men's. I decided to go all-out sporty for the presentation and pair my hat with these cool joggers (an awesome piece of swag in my gift bag from the recent Active Collective athleisure show), but I kept it chic with the sweater and heeled booties. I can't say it enough: Long live the athleisure movement, because anything that makes sweats appropriate for work is good in my book.

Palest of Pinks

Head to Toe: Turtleneck and cardigan, H&M // Jeans, Rachel Roy via Thredup // Booties, Coolway

You may be noticing a theme emerging, but this pale pink is my absolute favorite neutral. Even though I've been living in New York for over a year now, I rarely wear all black. It only felt right to give this head-to-toe black outfit a little sweetness, especially with the chunky platforms. I've been told this sweater looks like a bathrobe (all the more awesome if you ask me), so it was the perfect candidate for working while under the weather last week. I'm still trying to kick this cold, so I'm using the weekend for some much needed R&R. Happy Saturday, fashionistas!

Valentine's Day Dress

Head to Toe: Dress, eShakti // Booties, Musse & Cloud // Bag, Vera Bradley

Happy Monday, Fashionistas! I turned the ripe age of 27 over the weekend, so it's feeling like a new year for me. Now that I'm officially in my late twenties, I'm sharing this grown up sweater dress from eShakti, perfect for V-day or any winter cocktail event. I wore it with high-waist control-top tights underneath for a little help smoothing things out (since it doesn't hide much). The site lets you tailor pieces to your exact measurements, which is why the dress is fitted so nicely—it actually doesn't have a ton of stretch. The fabric feels high quality, and most dresses run around $50. The other cool thing about eShakti is that you can customize the garment to suit your needs...For this, I went with long sleeves and maxi length, since I'm always struggling with how to style tights/cardigans in the winter. The package shipped quickly and with a prepaid return label. For anyone interested in trying out a look in time for Valentine's Day (check out some cute hearts day options here), use the code "newenglandromance" for 10-percent off now through Jan. 28.

I want to add a little note about this bag. It was my Great Aunt Beth's, who recently passed away. She was a forever kind, stylish and meticulously put-together woman who always looked her best. She had a lovely collection of Vera Bradley purses, of course in perfect condition, and I'm happy to wear it in memory of her and to keep up the tradition of smart, stylish women in our family.

Dusty Rose

Head to Toe: Turtleneck, thrifted // Jeans, Siwy // Booties, Musse & Cloud // Trench, Gamiss

This Gamiss jacket is the sweetest shade of pale pink and a great accessory for only $11. Mine is a bit big on me (I find the site runs large), so I wore it open layered over a turtleneck. Also, the jacket is very light, so plan on wearing with a coat on top—like I did, right after I snapped these photos—or during warmer weather. Or, it's great if you work in an office with old NYC heating like mine, which has been pretty toasty these days! Is it Friday yet?

Ballet Class

Head to Toe: Top, handmade // Jeans, Old Navy // Flats, French Sole // Bag, vintage (gift)

Happy MLK Day, fashionistas! I am unfortunately working, but it was nice to have an empty subway on the way to work. I wore this last week during a mild temperature spell (the weather had been so up and down these days). The top is another handmade beauty by my mom, and I finished the outfit with a ballerina bun—thanks to a little help from my doughnut.

Cozy Things

Head to Toe: Sweater, Buffalo Exchange // Blanket Scarf, Cougar // Headband, Under Armour // Jeans, Old Navy // Boots, Khombu

We've started getting our first helpings of the white stuff in New York City. Yesterday morning, we woke up to a few inches on the ground, and I'm currently watching the snow fall out outside window as I type. These little Khombu duck boots are the perfect thing to slip on without clunking all over the city. (Still, nothing compares to my Sorel Joan of Arctics when there's more than a few inches outside.) And I can't stress enough how much I love this cozy blanket scarf. It's a must for wrapping up on my commute, using as a blanket in the office—it's even been used as an impromptu dog blanket. If you're looking for some weekend reading, Refinery 29 posted this great article about how to style one without looking like Ralphie's brother in A Christmas Story. Let's just say it's a delicate balance. Stay warm, fashionistas!

Sweatpants Are All That Fit Me...

Head to Toe: Top, Zara // Booties, Thursday Boot Company // Pants, made by mom

Two months of indulging for the holidays has me feeling like Regina George. Okay, sweatpants might not be the only thing that fits right now, but still, they're way more comfortable than my increasingly tight high-waist jeans. Thankfully, my mom sewed me these super cute sweats for Christmas, and they were my go-to look for my first day back after a long break. I needed to ease into the whole pants thing, okay?? And if you ask me, they look pretty chic with booties and a nice top.

But back to the whole indulgence thing...Are you hopping onto the New Year's diet/exercise bandwagon? Sean and I always cook a lot, so we eat pretty clean, but there are still too many cookies around to be on a strict diet! Simply getting to work seemed like an admirable enough feat this week, so I'll be on the new-year-new-me grind with ya'll next week...or maybe I'll just get bigger pants...
